Over Mt Kenya; sunrise warm chill morning dawn.
Skylarks flying with broken wings; chirping sad music.
Down the valleys; cries evoke usual quite dawn.
A whole village rise to mourn; innocent terror mystic.
Shaking heads in indolence disbelief; like unreal dreams.
Men cry brave tears; sad tales of doom.

Misleader eloquently preach water drinking wine.
Drawing thick line apart and around themselves.
Then bounders among brothers of deed and in need.
When smoke blew down the valleys of shanties.
They took refuge in grandiose secured palaces.
Sleeping in ignorant bliss; drunk with power stupor.
Between two make a clear comparison.

It could have been just marvels of creation.
Being Nilotes, Cushites or Bantus.
Tall or short, black and brown, all as one.
Our image in a mirror. Branches on one tree.
Above all we are of same tribe; Kenyans.

I gazed this sunny morning.
Thinking as a young boy; the intangible dreams.
Wishing armors were farming tools.
Toiling and molding our fertile green earth.
Singing our own songs; working till sun down.
Shaking hands in generous humanity.

Walking down by the riverside at dusk.
Listening to humming bees; birds singing in glee.
Whispering a prayer and Litanies of Love.
“Blessed be Kenya! May Peace be upon you.”
Then wait for glorious day; when all shall unite.
Armed with grace; building what we but dream.

Forever Kenya! Forever Kenyans.
